Admission

At The Catholic University of America, we believe that international diversity and cross-cultural exchange energizes the discussions taking place in our classrooms, enlivens our many social events, encourages mutual understanding and respect, and enriches our campus in general. We therefore welcome applications from interested students without regard for ethnic or national origin, or immigration status.

The University’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) maintains a web page through which prospective international students can access information regarding eligibility, applying for admission, the cost of attending Catholic University, and immigration procedures and visa information, among other resources.

In addition, all information provided on the application for admission is kept strictly confidential, meaning undocumented students should have no reservations about completing as much information as possible on the application forms.

Financial Aid

While there are no laws at either the federal or District of Columbia level that bar the University from enrolling any student, it is important to note that undocumented students are not eligible for any form of federal financial aid. Nor are they eligible for any assistantships, fellowships, or scholarships requiring some sort of service or work from the student because they do not have legal work permission.

Schools and organizations can, however, award true scholarships to undocumented students if they wish, as long as there is no associated service component that would be considered work.

The Center for Online Education also provides extensive information, including financial assistance options for Dreamers, as well as Temporary Protected Status and non-citizen students in its guide, College Help for Undocumented Students.
