Father Bernard grew up in Saint Henry, Ohio—a small farming community in the northernmost part of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. While initially intent on becoming an engineer and raising a family, he began to consider the priesthood before graduating from the University of Cincinnati. In due time, he discerned a simultaneous call to religious life in the Order of Friars Preachers. It was especially in his philosophical studies and in his experience of the Church’s prayer in the liturgy that he came to know the love of Jesus more profoundly. Father Bernard was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ in 2022. After completing his License in Sacred Theology at the Dominican House of Studies in 2023, he received his first pastoral assignment across the street at the Catholic University of America where he now serves as the chaplain for worship.
