Bridget worked for several decades as a staff member of the university, principally in the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. + Marguerite Ann Leonard, who passed away on February 26th. Marguerite was the mother of Maureen Boyle, the Assistant to the Dean in the School of Philosophy. Marguerite herself worked two different stints here at the university. In the 1950s, she was on the staff of the Department of Psychology, and in the 1990s she worked for CUA Press. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Marguerite on March 11 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. + Dr. Peter Paul Perla, III, who passed away on January 21st. + Judith Pattee Hummel Fischer, who passed away on January 11th. Judith was the mother of Susanna Frederick Fischer, an associate professor in the Columbus School of Law. A memorial service for Judith will be planned for later in the spring. + Vernon Ennels, who passed away on December 14th. Before his retirement from the university in 2016, Vernon served as a special police officer in the Department of Public Safety. Funeral services for Vernon were held on Saturday, January 6th, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church (712 Bradley Avenue) in Cambridge, MD.

+ Charles (Charley) Rutherford, who passed away on December 13th. Charley was the husband of Deborah Brown, the Senior Associate Vice President for University Advancement. For over 40 years, Charley taught Medieval Literature and Old English at the University of Maryland. Funeral services for Charley were held in private. + Christine Shiraishi Okuma, who passed away recently. +Dorothy Johnson Curry, who passed away on November 3rd. Dorothy was the mother of James Curry, the Director of HVACR and Plant Operations in the Office of Facilities Maintenance and Operations. Visitation was held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 12th, at Scott's Funeral Home (115 E. Brookland Park Blvd.) in Richmond, VA. Funeral services were celebrated at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 13th, in the Scott's Funeral Home Chapel. + Joseph William Begg, who passed away on October 30th. Joseph was the brother of Fr. Christopher Begg, an Ordinary Professor of Biblical Studies and the Katharine Drexel Chair of Religious Studies in the university's School of Theology and Religious Studies. Visitation took place from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, and again from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 8th, at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home (11800 New Hampshire Avenue) in Silver Spring, MD. + Alfred Harrison Richardson, who passed away on October 15th. From 1994 to 1999, Alfred worked as an administrative assistant in the University Archives. At the time, Alfred was a member of the Crosier Fathers and Brothers and was known as Br.
